You might think that after a 30+ year business career beginning with an MBA and plant manager position that John would be content to play golf, smoke cigars, and relax. Not even close. OK, well he does actually like to play golf and smoke cigars . . . but he continues to make things happen in the marketplace and his experience “on the other side of the desk” makes him an invaluable voice on Power 10’s Advisory Council.
When he’s not engaged with Power 10, he’s the Senior VP for Business Retention and Expansion at The Greater Columbia (SC) Chamber of Commerce— a position he was hired to perform after managing a major fundraising campaign for the Columbia Chamber. In this role, he relates remarkably well to business leaders because of his significant business experience in Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing Operations, Strategic Planning, Business Development, and Research and Engineering.
John has also worked at Northern Illinois University, Cinergy, the Department of Defense, Continental Can, Continental Group, PepsiCo, and Sonoco Products Company. As Managing Director of PepsiCo’s international concentrate operations, John managed a network of sixteen plants around the world including the first Pepsi plant constructed in China.
John’s experience additionally includes positions with Benedictine University in Naperville Illinois, where he functioned as Associate Dean of the Business School and as a professor in the MBA and EMBA programs. John is the holder of four United States and international patents, the US Air Force Commendation Medal, a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management / Electrical Engineering, and a Masters in Business Administration.
